What is Brazilian purple clay? Brazilian purple clay is a rare mineral-rich clay sourced from the earth in Brazil. Its distinctive purple-grey colour comes from its unique mineral composition — all naturally occurring compounds that support healthy skin function.

What does it do for the skin? It gently draws out impurities, excess oil and environmental residue from the pores without stripping the skin's natural moisture barrier. It's considered one of the more balancing clays — effective enough to cleanse deeply, but gentle enough not to leave skin feeling tight or dry afterwards.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Yes, Brazilian purple clay is generally well-tolerated by sensitive skin. It sits in the gentler end of the clay spectrum.

How does it compare to other clays? Different clays have different strengths. Kaolin is the mildest and most widely used. Bentonite is highly absorbent and better suited to oily skin. Brazilian purple clay sits somewhere in between — it has good drawing and purifying properties while still being kind to the skin's natural balance. It also brings a beautiful natural colour to the bar.
